Let’s be honest, a lot of us like to hang out in the garden. There’s nothing better than sitting back, putting your feet up, and enjoying the sunshine. However, clearing up your garden all of the time can be a time-consuming experience, and if you want to save yourself time and effort, then you should do all that you can to keep it simple.
But how can you actually have an easy to maintain garden, whilst still ensuring that it looks like the natural paradise that you’re looking for? Here are 5 things worth trying out.
#1: Pick out plants that are easy to look after
When you’re planting things in your garden, think about which options would be the easiest to maintain. Some plants require more care and attention than others, and if you haven’t got the time to give them, then they a) may look bad, and b) may not even grow at all. Choose manageable plants, and your garden will look great, without all of the hard work and effort that may have otherwise been required.
#2: Get artificial grass
Mowing the lawn can be one of the most stressful things about having a garden. It takes forever, you keep mowing over the wire, and you have to do it all over again a few weeks later. Artificial grass is a better choice here, and it requires little to no maintenance. Some people are put off by all of the myths of artificial grass out there, but there is no need to be if you simply ensure that you get it laid properly.
#3: Plant wildflowers
A lot of the plants that you buy from garden centres and supermarkets don’t actually attract bees and butterflies. In fact, having a pristine, well-maintained garden is actually bad for all of the small animals that come into your garden in general. Wildflowers, however, are great for bees, and they also look pretty good too (albeit a little crazy). Plant them, and you’ll never have to worry about maintenance.
#4: Add some decking
Another option that you could choose if you don’t want to go for a regular lawn is decking. Whilst you may need to get it cleaned every few years, you’ll have an attractive looking garden all year round, without the necessity to actually do anything with it. Decking is also great if you frequently have people over in the summertime, as you’ll have to do little prep before your big summer BBQ comes around.
#5: Buy weatherproof furniture
Cleaning down your furniture every time that you want to sit on it can be pretty annoying. If you’re pretty picky about the benches, tables and chairs that you’re picking out, however, then you could find that they require a lot less maintenance than others. Find out which materials are most likely to make it through the weather where you live, and you’ll be glad that you don’t need to go out and buy them again.
So, if you want to keep your garden simple and easy to maintain, then keep these 5 things in mind!
